Foster a Dog

Douglas County Canine Rescue is a foster based rescue! We do not have a facility so all of our dogs are in foster homes. We believe it is best for the dogs to be living in a home before they find their forever home. We have a network of selfless fosters who kindly open their homes to dogs in need. We always need new fosters to help these deserving dogs find their forever families. We provide all supplies and the cost of vetting. We require that fosters are able to take the dog(s) to one of our vets at least once and more if needed. We have vets in Lakewood and Black Forest. We also require that fosters are able to bring to adoption events on Saturdays which are usually in either Castle Rock or Littleton.

All dogs that come in have a 10 day hold and then can go to the adoption event after that. We recommend keeping the foster and your dog separate during that time to prevent the spread of any illness. We ask that fosters commit to fostering until the dog(s) are adopted. If you can no longer foster, we require 72 hrs to secure another foster but do our best to find a new foster as soon as we can. Fosters are the only way we can save dogs so please help save a life today by fostering!!
